    Pre-Summit Workshops

Workshop A: Inclusive recruitment of persons with disabilities (PWD)

    Jan 12, 2024, SCMP Office
    3pm - 5pm I Workshop
    5pm - 6pm | Happy hour

Many global business leaders recognise that inclusive hiring is a priority for their organisation, and society; it promotes a fair and equitable workplace, fosters innovation and improves financial performance. In Hong Kong, only 24 per cent of companies focus on disability inclusion. This is a small percentage considering that Hong Kong has 500,000+ people with disabilities and over 30 per cent of that group are of working age. How can more organisations truly embrace diversity in hiring PWDs? Does unconscious bias affect hiring decisions? How could businesses redesign their traditional recruitment practices to be more inclusive? What are some of the strategies to better promote disability inclusion in the workplace? This workshop will address these issues and more.

Speaker: Walter Tsui, Founder and CEO, CareER

Workshop B: Why mental health is now a talent management priority

    Jan 19, 2024, SCMP Office
    3pm - 5pm I Workshop
    5pm - 6pm | Happy hour

A study by the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC) has revealed there are high levels of workplace discrimination or stigma against employees with mental health issues (MHI). Many of these individuals experience unfair treatment – fewer job offers, being paid less, being assigned to job duties or work location that is not as ideal as other employees or fewer promotion opportunities. How can leaders create positive change and prioritise mental health as part of an organisation’s inclusion and talent development strategy to create a stigma-free culture and psychologically safe workplace?

Speaker: Henry Chan, Trainer, Mind HK

Workshop C: Invisible disability: Seeing the unseen

    Jan 26, 2024, SCMP Office
    3pm - 5pm I Workshop
    5pm - 6pm | Happy hour

How do we create a more inclusive and accommodating environment for neurodiverse individuals in Hong Kong? Many experience stigmatisation and discrimination, isolation, anxiety, depression and more. Some individuals may lack awareness of neurodiverse conditions, like autism, ADHD and dyslexia, resulting in delayed diagnosis or access to therapies. How can leaders help alleviate the struggles neurodiverse individuals face?

    Speaker: Jonathan Mok, Fellow, Resolve
